I would have to say that since I don't work in the >development groups, I can't say for certain that the problem won't >reappear at 5.0x, but I think (or maybe I mean hope) that it is >unlikely to happen again. The main reason behind my mail was that I have been extremely frustrated trying to get a decent resolution to the problem. What I would like to see from Informix support is the following: 1) A list of 4.1 versions that do not have the problem (HP-UX 8.0 and 8.02 platforms.) 2) An assurance that the fault has been investigated and will not appear in any 5.0 version. The reason I need this is that the sites involved tend to have an independent method of ordering upgrades and it would be nice to be able to warn them in advance which specific versions to avoid - this would enable them to select the latest bug-free version (and have a choice of when to upgrade to 5.0). So far (after over 3 months), all I have received is a 'problem reference number', which is not very satisfying, to say the least. I realise that this is not really the place to air these grievances (unless of course it is :)), but I hoped to galvanise somebody into action somewhere. >I don't remember seeing a platform list (but I don't have copies of >your original or intermediate mails). We can do this at no cost - don't know how happy I would be if we had to pay Informix to get a version without a bug, tho'! >The .UGx numbers are maintenance releases within the 4.10 version. >So if there is a problem with .UG2, it may be fixed in .UG3 or >.UG4. or .UH1, or whatever higher number release comes along. So >you can't expect a fix to .UG2 which keeps the version at .UG2. My problem is the pattern of versions in which the bug appears ie: Online 4.10.UE4 Informix-Star 4.10.UE4 : Gives the error Online 4.10.UE4 Informix-Star 4.10.UE5 : Works OK Online 4.10.UG1 Informix-Star 4.10.UG1 : Gives the error This would seem to indicate that the problem occurs 'off and on' through multiple *semi-major* versions.
