If the IXBAR > file needs to have all the log files info is there away to get that > information in the IXBAR file? > > Any help will be appreciated. > > Thanks in advance. > T.E.Mammoser > DBA > Nicor Gas To clarify some points regarding the "wonderful" onsmsymc utility. - onsmsync is only able to delete entries from sysutils/ixbar if they no longer exist in the storage manager it will not insert entries in sysutils/ixbar if the exist in the storage manager but not in sysutils/ixbar - onsmsync is able to build a new ixbar file based on the sysutils database - onsmsync will insert entries in sysutils which are only available in the ixbar file (for example log salvages which occur offline) so onsmsync will not be a real help. because you have no actual ixbar- file and your sysutils database might also be lost. however informix changed the behaviour during the logical restore. it will not only use the entries in the ixbar-file, it will also search for additional logs available in the storage manager thru the BSAQueryObject() call. so a restore to the most recent backed up logical log should be possible. however I'm not sure in what version this behaviour changed. I guess it was 7.31.UC6 or UC7.
