The Informix security / authentication model - for UNIX at least - is fundamentally and deeply flawed. We all know how easy it is to lie to it, especially from a PC, and so GRANT and DENY do no more than keep honest people from making stupid mistakes. Nevertheless, I was pleased to see the Client SDK download. The Intersolv 3.01 driver in it has one major advantage over the previous Informix offerings for ODBC: it actually works. It's dangerous, as others have commented, but you can actually use it from Access to a UNIX server and have something happen. dwight
