Data Quality / Profile / Cleansing Tools

Greetings All, I am wondering if anyone can pass along any suggestions/thoughts/recommendations concerning the all around value of some of the data profiling, quality and cleansing vendors. In particular, the front runners seem to be Ascential, Dataflux and Trillium. Thanks in advance,
As you asked... We use Ab Initio, the "Informix" of ETL tools. They don't market themselves very well but the quality of the product is the best of the bunch. There isn't anything you cannot do with this product. You'll find their website at www.abinitio.com -- Not much of a web site, but they produce a product that is basically Visio-that-works. You'd end up paying more for Informatica with less functionality. Ab Initio is way less cost than Ascential, but you will be into the smartest of the smart with ETL tools. I'm not a troll for their product either, just making a recommendation as you had asked. Informatica is way too complicated and just can't get it done compared to Ab Initio, and only runs on Windows. ( I know you didn't mention Informatica or Ab Initio ) As a test of any of these products ask yourself how much training is required to make them work. AI works on Linux, AIX, etc. Trillium is interesting and a good product, and inexpensive. It has received awards over the years, and has some novel yet simple ways of doing things. Trillium filled a gap in the early years of Data Warehousing, and has a lot of time in service. Last time I used it was several years ago. It is quite adequate if you're on a budget. Ascential is a lot of disparate products bolted together, and a lot of money. Dunno about Dataflux, but it might be good too. Have Ab Initio give you a demo after you see a demo from everyone else, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Ascential by the way can't do what Ab Initio can do, ain't no way. Ascential was priced the highest of what we looked at too.
