CLOB to TEXT and BLOB to BYTE

Hi, Is exists conversions between BYTE (TEXT) and BLOB(CLOB)? I have images in the BYTE data type in blobspace. Can I change this BYTE column to BLOB in the smartblob? It is possibile?
