All, Am running IDS10 on SLSE10 having 6 databases scattered on 10 dbspaces. I do simple db maintenance once in while like checking for dbspaces usage, running things like statistics on the tables(after a long while). I was just wondering what are the kind of regular database maintenance/checks i need to perform on regular bases i.e daily routines, Monthly routines etc. Paul.
Hi, backup may be an item of interest. If you decide to do backup at all, my advice is to also plan and test restore. Having done restore in test scenarios can be a lot of help for a serious (and often stressful) real situation. Besides it builds up confidence. :) Backup planning is a big subject of its own that I don't want to elaborate further here. It should be easy to find all sorts of (written) resources on the topic. One starting point could be the manual "IBM Informix Backup and Restore Guide" ...
