How to connect to 4.5

Hi, I have got Informix 4.5 on Unix .I would like to connect it with Windows 95.(I will be using VC++ 5 as the front end).Is there any way of doing it?.Any drivers that could connect me...?. TIA, Chidambaram.

Hi, You need to install an ODBC driver and Informix-Connect on Windows. Informix Client SDK comes bundled with I-Connect, Informix's own ODBC driver, and Instersolv ODBC driver. Check Informix and M$'s web sites for ODBC connectivity HOWTO's. Perhaps the best ODBC drivers around are by Openlink. http://www.openlinksw.com. I've played around with all the drivers I mentioned above, and finally chose to work with Openlinks's drivers. If you use their 2-tier architecture, you don't need I-connect on the client side but you've to install their request broker on the server side. I'm working with Informix 7.2 and don't know if this also applies to your version. Nitin.
