Removing this facility would ruin the operation of many of our programs. The 4GL system currently makes the assumption that the SQL statements in your program may be referring to elements in the database that are created and removed as required. As such it does not insist that those elements exist when you compile your program. We use this feature to access tables, databases, etc which are created either on the fly or by other programs for use by the current program. It also makes it possible to have a single program work with multiple databases, tables, etc, depending on which site has installed the software and what they have called their local databases and tables. We even have databases which change their name as they go through time. It would be a disaster to us if this capability was removed. Cheers - Jim My opinions are my own.
