Any downsides to using SINGLESEG_OFF=1 variable?

Good morning, We=B9re currently working with EMC Networker 7.4 backup solution for HPUX & IDS 10.00.FC5. Onbar doesn=B9t seem to be able to connect to IDS 10.00 without an environment variable SINGLESEG_OFF=3D1. Once we set that, Onbar, and subsequently, Networker 7.4 Informix Module seems to be working. The question I have is, are there any downsides or gotchas with not using a single memory segment with IDS 10.00.FC5?
