Remember, only set PDQPRIORITY for a session if you want that session to use PDQ resources. As far as allocating resources, I normally use the following approach: Determine the number of queries to allow to use PDQ resources: 24 $ onmode -Q 24 Set MAX_PDQPRIORITY=(100-2) div 24 -- leave 2 for the engine to play with... $ onmode -D 4 (run one time) Set DS_TOTAL_MEMORY = number of sessions (ie 24) times the average memory each session will use, or if you have a memory limitation, then take the limit divided by the number of sessions (ie 24). As an example, you could use 24*10MB = 240MB. Remember that this amount is taken from the virtual portion of shared memory (see: onstat -g seg). Note that you can allocate more virtual memory if needed by using 'onmode -a ...', but it is best to set onconfig parameter SHMVIRTSIZE to allow for the DS sessions. Informix on HP-UX performs best with a small number of segments. $ onmode -M 240000 (run one time) I usually allow DS_MAX_SCANS to remain the default 1048576.
