Has anyone had a chance to use TAPEDEV of STDOUT in IDS 10 and pipe it through some sort of encryption to a tape device or file? IDS 10.00.UC4, RedHat AS3 TIA. Bob Roussey robert.roussey@spiritair.com
I haven't used encryption, but I have done the following a lot:
ontape -s -L 0 | compress -c > archive.z
Putting ontape output through a pipe is no different than putting the
output of any other program through a pipe. With most encryption
programs, you'll have to configure the details like how often the key
changes, seed values and the like. Ought to work unless the encryption is
so slow it can't keep up with the pipe.
