Kanti,
The UNIX errno 5 is typically a hardware type error. Are you sure that th=
e tape drive is working properly? You can try testing reading and writing=
to a tape with dd and other UNIX commands [tar, cpio, etc.]. Before you=
start the next level 0 backup check to make sure that there are no old on=
tape command processes that are still alive from previous aborted attempts=
at backups. Also, as Bob suggested below, recheck and publish your TAPE=
related parameters from the onconfig file.

Here is the TAPE parameters set in my onconfig file.
# grep TAPE $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG
TAPEDEV /dev/tape/tape8 # Tape device path for Tape Drive 0
# TAPEDEV /dev/null # Tape device path
TAPEBLK 32 # Tape block size (Kbytes)
TAPESIZE 0 # Maximum amount of data to put on tape (Kbytes)
LTAPEDEV /dev/null # Log tape device path
LTAPEBLK 32 # Log tape block size (Kbytes)
LTAPESIZE 0 # Max amount of data to put on log tape (Kbytes)
I have check the Machine Specific Notes and compared all the variable. Only
SHMBASE is set to 0x200000000 that should be 0x200000000L.
As far as I know that after we add 100G new disk from SAN to this server it
start giving FAILED message. I am not using this new disk or any partion for
Informix yet.
