We currently have 50 logs which are 1 MB each. We were trying to balance something that wouldn't take too long to checkpoint, but still give us adequate log space. These logs have worked well for us. The only thing I might do when we go to the 7.1 engine in a couple of weeks is add more logs of the same size. Mostly the amount of space is for when I need to make a sizeable database change. I would much rather have it slow the machine down (running with logging), than reserve time on a weekend to bring my users down for a few hours, archive, turn logging off, do what I need to do, archive and turn logging on... While I think there will always be situations where that is necessary, in general, lots of log space makes life easier for everyone here!
