Going to Las Vegas in Fall...

Hi fellows, I wanted to update you on the Data Management Technical Conference in Las Vegas, this fall (precisely at the Las Vegas Hilton, from Oct 27 to Oct 31). First a disclaimer: See past my sig. Second, the very serious stuff: I guess that US, Canadian and probably Mexican members know Las Vegas quite well, in Europe and probably the rest of the world, Las Vegas is synonym of Sin City... Although this ought to be true, it changes and Las Vegas is a great town for entertainment. I often compare Las Vegas to a Disneyland for grown ups. Of course, no visitor really wins some money over there, but there are a lot of places for entertainment, such as Siegfried and Roy (book now if you plan to go) or while you may stay at the Hilton, go to the Star Trek Experience, great fun and great pleasure (http://www.startrekexp.com/). This will certainly cheer you up after some stressing work session... Finally, the work stuff: See more details on: http://www.iiug.org/news/insider/insider_19sep03.html#2. Highlights: - IIUG negotiated a 150 USD discount with IBM. - Get IBM Informix Certified for free. Sure certifications are not that popular in Europe, that's why it is even better to have some on your Resume / Curriculum Vitae. - The "Meet the IBM Informix Executives" is always fun (last year, it was certainly the equivalent of the Star Trek Experience, I leave to you to choose who were the Borgs). - Much more... including meeting the IIUG board, including President elect, Stuart Litel... Among other things, see "Informix Success Story on Linux for Central Government: a battle won against Microsoft" by Brunello Bonanni and Raffaella Caldarella, "Informix in the Brave New Linux World" by Srini Bhagavan. This selection was simply done by browsing the agenda (see http://www-3.ibm.com/services/learning/conf/us/dm/). It does not reflect anything else, there are other good sessions which I have missed... Regards, Jean Georges Perrin DISCLAIMER: I am sending this mail as a IIUG Director, however, some of the opinions expressed in this mail are personal and do not reflect the Board's view, so if you are not happy or if you are offended by the content of the mail, blame me, not the Board. On the other hand, my lawyer is a lot richer than me, so there is no need for him to give him some more money. sending to informix-list

If you have in mind that Informix prices in my region (EMEA) are almost three times greater then in USA and Canada I think that you will also conclude that IBM have to pay partners from my region to visit Las Vegas. I don't want to mention my salary and salary in USA and Canada. nebojsa ------------------------------------ Remove spam block (DELETE_) to reply
