Re: displaying date/time in sql

Hi,
If you're running isql (or dbaccess?) in one of the modes:
isql dbase script
isql - script
isql dbase -
isql - -
then it allows you to use ! to do shell escapes: eg "!date" to execute the
date command, and "!ls" to execute ls, etc. Otherwise, No, not with the
standard tools.
I have an SQL command interpreter SQLCMD which does allow you to do timings
at whatever resolution is available -- nanoseconds if you have POSIX.4 type
timers. That's a lot of source code, and it isn't in a very portable state
at the moment. I could make a development version available to you, but
you'd have to sort out most of the porting problems.
