Re: problem with shared memory connections

many thanks for suggestions made ( Art and others )
unfortunately... it hasn't made a lot of difference.
I added these lines to the config:
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,50,CPU
NETTYPE soctcp,1,50,NET
It seems that once I get to 24 shm connections then no more are allowed,
although soc connections are fine. I can't find what might be limiting
this.
BTW what's the easiest way to determine if a connection is shm or soc?
Our default is shm ( set by $ONCONFIG)
Also, the summary line for onstat -u gives "25 maximum concurrent", which
seems to be a limit for shm connections, but not for soc - it simply
increases for each new soc connection made. What is the significance of
this
value?
any (more) ideas/suggestions?
Unix is HP 10.20, Informix is 7.24.UC3 ( we had installed it before the
tech
alert on ontape, but I think this problem was with us before we went to
this
version )
thanks again
