Informix 7.30 comes with inbuilt ISM. Related to your
missing library, these shared library get linked
automatically when you run installserver script.
If you are using 3rd party SM then at the time of
configuartion it should be able to use this shared
library or it should give you some environment
variable like LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
I am currently working with ALEXANDRIA SM with
INFORMIX 7.30 and on-bar is working perfectly. I
faced problem of hanging only if SM is not responding
well with On-Bar or the drives are not working fine.
On-Bar is recommended only if you DB size is greater
than 2GB. if you are dealing less than this, then you
can survive with ontape.
Related to your unattended backup to disk, check
iiug.org site, you would be able to get the idea.
