Hi Jordi. >if you open a telnet sesion on Linux host, the login prompt need >several seconds to be showed .... > >In other words, Linux is extremely slow when someone whants to connect >it, and i'think is a problem of Linux, not of IDS. If you have traceroute on Solaris, you test what route from Solaris to Linux. I think Solaris or other machine can not understand IP-ADDRESS of Linux. Try as bellow. Linux machine name is cspc08. IP-ADDRESS of cspc08 is 192.168.1.1. telnet cspc08 How long ? telnet 192.168.1.1 Faster than cspc08 ? Check your Solaris machine. If you use DNS. /etc/resolv.conf -> Specify correct domain and nameserver ? /etc/nsswitch.conf -> Check your entry of hosts HTH. -- Tsutomu Ogiwara from Tokyo Japan.
