Quite simpy, you can't. In your example, the thing that comes closer is splitting the phone number in two fields - area and number. Display the area code and skip it altoghether with a BEFORE FIELD area CASE WHEN (area IS NOT NULL) WHEN (fgl_lastkey()!=fgl_keyval("up")) AND (fgl_lastkey()!=fgl_keyval("prevpage")) AND (flg_lastkey()!=fgl_keyval("left")) NEXT FIELD NEXT END CASE If you are really after that kind of functionality, you should check the 4j's universal compiler, which offers that, and *much* more Ciao, Marco _______________________________________________________________________________ Marco Greco, Catania, Italy marcog@linux.ctonline.it rem radioterapia +39 95 447828 fax 446558 Informix faq http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/informix.htm 4glworks http://www.ctonline.it/~marcog Informix on Linux http://www.ctonline.it/~marcog/ifmxlinux.htm Glen Johnson wrote: > > How can I use place the screen cursor in a field at a locaiton other > than the beginning of the field? > > For example I am requesting a US phone number.
