how is sessionid generated

Does anyone know how informix (7.30.TC3) generates the sessionid? I know from sysmaster.sql that it is an int, but i need to have some sort of understanding of where the value comes from. Is it tied to some memory address, is it randomly generated based on some algorithm, etc... Our app creates sp's dynamically and wants to use sessionid as part of the naming convention so that they can be tied to the session that created them. Since informix 7.3 only allows 18 characters for identifiers, we need to know, within reason, what lengths to expect from the sessionid. I've only seen lengths of 8-10 characters, but then ours is a development system and not under heavy usage. Any help would be greatly appreciated... -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own

Well since it is a 32bit integer it cannot exceed 13 digits! Art S. Kagel
