I can't answer your question, but when your are interested in a solution for your problem... We had a something similar problem: Query with program : slow Query with dbaccess: fast The solution was to run an "update statistics medium for <table>". After that the program was also fast. When i read your problem description, it might be, that our problem was the same as yours: Slow with host variables, fast without them. Perhaps it is worth an attempt. Regards, try_and_err
