Depending on how *much* data you are loading you could fill your logical logs and cause a highwater mark rollback. Locking a table in exclusive mode only puts a couple of locks out that I've seen--less than 5 I think. HOWEVER, I've seen it put a lock on the row in systables containing the information on the locked table.
