Universe (pick?)

Is anyone familiar with this database? We use both that and Informix for separate, but related applications. The Universe programmers are unloading an entire table from the Informix app, loading it into their app, and running some reports on it. (This should have been done in Informix, but they didn't have me when they wrote it). The data gets deleted after 30 days from the Informix app. Currently, it's never deleted from the Universe app. I asked them if they couldn't just use something like a temporary table. Answer: Well, we're writing a program to delete them after 60 days, so essentially it will be a temporary table. Why not just delete everything every day and ask me to change the delete criteria from 30 days to 60 days? I wouldn't even have to recompile, and we've got plenty of room to store 60 days worth of data. This is the kind of thing that makes my head implode.
