Informix backup using tsm on linux
Denny tried to run ON-Bar backups to TSM on Informix 10 / Red Hat AS 3.0 with TSM 5.3.3 and got an error about $INFORMIXDIR/lib/libtxbsa.so, even though BAR_BSALIB_PATH in onconfig already pointed at that file. Eric Rowell suggested symlinking $INFORMIXDIR/lib/ibsad001.so to libtxbsa.so; after creating that link the backup worked. Martin Fuerderer also mentioned possibly updating the storage manager's XBSA version file. A follow-up question on restoring a specific (not the latest) TSM backup was answered with: use a point-in-time restore or edit the ixbar file to remove the newer entry.

without knowing what exactly is the error message, here's
a wild guess:
You may need to update the SM's XBSA version in the
SM version file (and possibly even in the sysutils database).
This should also be documented somewhere in the manuals.

$INFORMIXDIR/lib/libtxbsa.so in the onconfig file at the beginning. But
it does not work. That is why I send out mail to look for help. Right
now I have both link and BAR_BSALIB_PATH been setup. Still playing with
it. That is totally new to me.
Yes, one more question for you, Eric, say we have No1,No2,No3 backups
sitting on TSM, and I want to restore from No2, how can point to it?

Using point in time or edit the ixbar to not have the No3 and it will
restore what is left in the file.

Using point in time or edit the ixbar to not have the No3 and it will
restore what is left in the file.
