Workstream App/Informix 24x7 support
I'm looking for a DBA or Application developer who is supporting the Workstream application by Applied Materials on Informix DB. My customer wants to be a true 24x7 application, but I can't get architecture information showing this is possible. I'd also like to know if anyone can rebuild a 2.3 million row index on 4 columns in less than 35 minutes without fragmentation. I need architecture (hardware to accomplish this response time)
I can't speak for Workstream . . . .but as to your other issues. What Informix version? What hardware? The time for the index build sounds reasonable. 2.3 million on 4 columns in 35 minutes? I use workstream and I am sure either you're talking about wiplth or entenh. I use round robin fragmentation and indexes are only created when system is in maintenance mode so that you can use PDQPRIORITY and all that goes alongwith that. I am not sure if we can do it in 35 mins but with 12 mil. rows, I could create indexes in under an hour. BTW, its record-size is 1.7kb.
