OAT: Logical Log Alerts

IDS 11.50.FC5 AIX 5.3 Has anyone come up with a way to automatically "addressing" the logical log alerts for which you have both the "Logical Log xxxxx Complete" and the " Logical Log xxxxx - Backup Completed" entries? _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Trusted email with Microsoft's powerful SPAM protection. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/177141664/direct/01/ http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/177141664/direct/01/
"addressing"?
What do you want the ALARMPROGRAM to do?
There's a delivered script, log_full.ksh in $INFORMIXDIR/etc, that will back
up the log as it fills using onbar. It's not hard to modify that script to
use ontape instead. You can get my package, utils3_ak, which contains an
executable program that is configured to back up the logs using ontape and
which handles most other events by sending out email alerts.

Notice the "within OAT" ? :)
Logical logs are being backed up without issue .... it is the alerts shown
within OAT I am addressing.
When you go to the alerts functions within OAT, you will likely see a large
number of yellow alerts regarding the completion of individual logical logs,
followed immediately (or shortly thereafter) by an alert for your logical log
being backed up. There are various levels of alerts listed; I would like these
logical log alerts to be considered "addressed" and not be shown as new ...
but only for those records for which both types of records exist. If a logical
log has completed but has not been backed up, it should remain as a new alert.
Thanks ... and Take care.

My suggestion would be to create an insert trigger
to capture all rows inserted with the following values
alert_object_type ALARM
alert_object_name 23
Upon finding these rows it will parse out the
third word from the alert_message (i.e. the log number)
Logical Log 110 Complete, timestamp: 0x128d0b4.
then look to update the row with the following attributes
alert_object_type ALARM
alert_object_name 18
Upon finding these rows it will parse out the
third word from the alert_message (i.e. the log number)
Logical Log 110 - Backup Completed
then update the alert_state to ADDRESSED
Just my idea, have not tried it yet.
