Re: Error Asp Informix

There are a few more layers that might be considered. A brief description would be. ASP (things are a little foggy for me at this layer and above.) OLE DB Provider for ODBC (Microsoft product) ODBC driver (in this case, DataDirect's driver for Informix) DBMS (in this case Informix) The format and content of the message itself indicates that it is an error coming from the ODBC driver and not the server. It contains [vender][driver identifier]; if the error were coming from the server it would contain [vendor][driver identifier][dbms identifier]. The fact that the message is coming from the ODBC driver indicates that it is probably not a driver connectivity config problem because the driver dll(s) are not loaded until a connection is attempted and the error message is about the processing of a row rather than some connectivity issue. But, at this point, you don't have enough information to know if this is a garbage-in-garbage-out situation or if it is, if the garbage first comes from the app or the OLE DB Provider for ODBC, or if this is a defect or feature lack in the ODBC driver. You might try substituting some of the layers. You could try the Informix ODBC driver under the OLEDB-ODBC provider. Another option would be using the Informix OLE DB provider instead of the MS OLE DB to ODBC bridge provider. If the ASP app fails at the same point, (The error message will most likely be different since we are talking about different vendors.) then, there is some garbage coming from the ASP code. Else, well, there are a number of possibilities.
