Hi All, Currently, we are doing database backup Level 0 and Logical Log backup on to tape drives. Is it possible to change to NAS disk instead of tape drives. We are using Informix 11.50 on HP-UX machine. If yes, please let me know the statement or script for this Thank you very much Regards Baskaran --14dae93d930062817104e038d686
Of course. Indeed you can set TAPEDEV and LTAPEDEV in your onconfig file
to filesystem directory names and ontape will automatically manage the
filenames even for multiple server instances. So, just mount a filesystem
from your NAS disk array to say /informix/archives and create two
directories there say /informix/archives/backups and
/informix/archives/logs. Then set the ONCONFIG variables to:
TAPEDEV=/informix/archives/backups
TAPESIZE=0
LTAPEDEV=/informix/archives/logs
LTAPESIZE=0
Then all you need to do is continue running ontape as you have been doing:
For archives: ontape -s -L 0
For logs: ontape -a --or-- ontape -c

Art,
Thank you for the information and I have seeing onconfig parameter is as
below
TAPEDEV /dev/rmt/2m
TAPEBLK 2048
TAPESIZE 100000000
LTAPEDEV /dev/rmt/0m
LTAPEBLK 1024
LTAPESIZE 2048000
and changes as below
TAPEDEV=/informix/archives/backups
TAPEBLK 2048
TAPESIZE=0
LTAPEDEV=/informix/archives/logs
LTAPEBLK 1024LTAPESIZE=0
Please let me know if it correct changes and I need one more information do
you require to equal sign or just space enough
Thank you very much

Spaces between the keywords in the onconfig file and the value, not equals
signs. Otherwise looks good.
