Re: Informix at Walmart

I wok for Computer Sciences Corporation in Maine on the Bath Iron Works contract. We are running Informix online 5.0 which is running on 9 production and 2 test HP9000 on a UNIX platform. The database is located on all 11 nodes. Each database contains 72 tables. The only thing different is the data. The system is a Time and attendance and labor system. There are 10000 employees doing transactions from MPT's(multi purposr terminals) and hundreds of supervisors doing updates and verifications. It is a large and complex system.all eleven nodes are linked through tcp/ip and ethernet. they are conected to the 30 plus Novell servers which the supervisors use desktops to acces the system. The mpts transmit through modems and data modules. Great system. Lots of locking errors(average 45 to 50 per day). Gregg Programmer/Analyst Informix
