It's worse than that. You would have to restore *ALL* the databases in the OnLine system, not just the one which contained the problem table. There is no concept of a database-level archive & log, let alone a table-level one. >Ideally I could simple restore the particular table that >was living on that disk. A table does not normally reside on only one disk. A disk does not normally contain only one table. Even if you design *your* system that way, there is no way for OnLine to know that you have done so. Even if it did, what would you rollforward from? >Any comments? This is why disk mirroring is provided. If you mirror your disks, it is extremely unlikely that you would lose both copies of any one disk at the same time, except as part of some much larger disaster. graeme -- Disclaimer: The author's opinions are his own, and not necessarily those of Pyramid Technology Ltd. or Pyramid Technology Inc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -m------- Graeme Sargent Voice: +44 (0)252 373035 ---mmm----- Senior Database Consultant Fax : +44 (0)252 373135 -----mmmmm--- Pyramid Technology Ltd.
