backup and restore question (7.23 & 7.3)

Hi all, I have a weird situation here. We recently upgraded from 7.23 UC1 to 7.30 UC6. ( I retained the old directory of 7.23 ). In our environment we have multiple script files which set the INFORMIXDIR variable. I though I had caught them all, but I guess not. Today I am trying to restore a backup on a different machine from the previous day, and the backup date is okay, but the version says 7.23 UC1!! It obviously seems like the old INFORMIXDIR variable was used. Is my backup any good at all ? Do I restore with INFORMIX 7.3 or 7.23? On one previous occasion, I did manage to restore a 7.23 database on to a 7.3 instance using the 7.23 executables and the 7.3 libraries ( /usr/lib/ismdd... ). The reason I had to use the 7.3 libraries was because the OS and the database were upgraded at the same time and the old libraries would not work. Thanks as usual for your suggestions.
