This was a known bug in some version of c4gl, fixed in some later release within the 4.x series as far as I know. Check with Informix support. You might have to upgrade to fix this. Be aware that if you ever update to 7.x of the engine (6.x of 4gl) and try to use it's socalled national language support there will be a whole pletora of strange issues you have to deal with.
