The specific problem is that Informix uses fseek and lseek to position to a page in a chunk. When large filesystems and 64bit file size support were developed instead of enhancing/replacing these functions with ones that took 64bit arguments, in order not to break old code, it was decided to add new function calls to perform the seeking in large files. The Informix code therefore is limited to chunks sized as 2GB less any initial offset because of the 32bit arguments to lseek and fseek rather than the 64bit offset supported by llseek(). I am not aware of ANY Informix release that supports chunk sizes greater than 2GB. Art S. Kagel
