Limit to memory for IDS on NT

In looking through the Informix website I saw somewhere that the limit of memory for a server is 1GB. I'm not sure if this is new or old. I am putting a database up on NT which will need to have 1GB of buffers and some addition 100's of MBs of memory for sorting. Can I do this with IDS 7.3 on Windows NT? If not, can I do it on Solaris? Cheers

These are available online at the Informix WEB site in the TechInfo Center. You have to be a registered TechInfo Center enrollee but enrollment is free. After logging in (select enroll or access) choose Product Support then Release Notes or Machine (Specific) Notes. I do not know about the NT release specificallyu but the UNIX releases can use up to 768,000 buffers (1.5GB on a 2K pagesize system), up to 1GB for DSS queries and can be set to allocate unlimited Virtual Segments (which are used for sort memory among other things). Hi,
Following are the mem specs for IDS.
Master oninit process - 2.95 MB
Resident shared mem - 1 MB to 1 GB
Virtual Shared mem ....
Min per connection - 35 KB
Avg recommended per session - 250 KB(Varies by app)
Disk requirements for NT is 100MB and for UNIX it is 70 MB.
PK.
