Best option you have is to consider SSDs (Solid State Disks) There are plenty different ways and price/performance considerations but www. storagesearch.com/ssd.html has it all in a very informative way. If you need the speed and if you have some money to spend this simply was always THE way to go. It is the only way to buffer/keep-incore what ever YOU want and not what a semi- (un-)intelligent algorithm *thinks* will be fast for you.
