Do you have something outstanding with Informix? Or are you out to smear them? I just started Netscape, cleared the disk and memory cache, and opened http://www.informix.com. It took about 10 seconds. That's among the fastest loads of any web sites from my site. It's consistantly a fast site from here. May be some part of your internet connection is slow. There is no way you can reliably test the speed of any web site over the internet without knowing a lot about your connections and where the data is routed. The route may easily change from time to time as well. Your physical distance from the web server have nothing to do with this. You may still be routed even via some site on the east cost of the USA. If you are connected to the same ISP as Informix your routing should normally be fairly direct. However you have no real way of knowing what is going on even in this case without sofisticated tracing. Additionally you have to know something about the number of simultaneous hits both on the same page, on the Informix web server and the amount of other traffic on all parts of the route of your request. This is usually to hard to even have a clue about. You shouldn't ever blame any part of any technology used on a web site without testing it in a controlled manner. This means you have to set up your own connection that does not involve the internet. These server based techonolgies can only be tested on a controlled intranet.
