Online 6.0 & Solaris 2.3: Error building 'sysmaster' database?
Posted in 1995
We are trying to get Online server 6.0, (6.00.UE1 exactly), going on a Sparc
10 running Solaris 2.3, (with fairly up to date patches - our Jumbo Patch
#101318, is up to -45). We have our /etc/system file set up as recommended.
We are just trying to get it going with a cooked UFS database, and the learn
environment.
When we do "oninit -i", it runs and completes. But the online.log says:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fri Apr 14 13:05:31 1995
13:05:31 INFORMIX-OnLine Initialized -- Complete Disk Initialized
13:05:32 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds
13:05:32 On-Line Mode

13:05:33 Error building 'sysmaster' database
13:05:33 See '/tmp/buildsmi.394'
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The buildsmi.394 file says, basically, "Try again."
We can manually do a buildsmi:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
13:38:47 Logical Log 1 Complete
13:39:09 Logical Log 2 Complete
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But then, when we do onmonitor, it says "** WARNING: Network Down
**--On-Line-------", and crashes the server:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
13:40:50 Assert Failed: Internal Error - Segmentation Violation
13:40:50 Who: Thread(5, msc vp 0, 0, 6)
13:40:50 Results: OnLine must abort
13:40:50 Action: Reinitialize shared memory
13:40:50 See Also:
13:40:50 rsdebug.c, line 3251, thread 5, proc id 399, Segmentation Violation.
13:40:50 PANIC: Attempting to bring system down
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So far, we have re-installed the server. Informix support hasn't seen it
before. Any one seen it? Or have any ideas?
Thanks!
