(CGI) 1994 Feb 1 9am-noon @ National Arts Centre, Ottawa (coffee, danishes @ 0830) non-members:$15 Membership $80/yr, prorated This presentation will focus on the implementation strategy for managing an organization's information and will address the following issues: - What is a Strategic Data Architecture? - What is "Data Warehousing" and how can it be used to deliver a Strategic Data Architecture? - By what methods can an organization consolidate its information to optimize the use of data warehousing? This presentation will also illustrate how IRM groups can obtain executive endorsement by fostering a more complete understanding of the benefits data warehousing provides to the organization. An actual implementation will be presented to illustrate how the strategies listed above were used to choose the tools, overcome the pitalls encountered and ensure the successful implementation of a strategic data architecture that will grow with the organization's needs. In the discussion period following the presentation, users who have specific data warehousing issues will be asked to present the problem for group discussion and resolution. Biography: Debi Brown is the Managing Director of Clarity Group Inc. of Toronto. She is a major shareholder and has over 10 years of industry experience. Debi has participated and managed in the successful implementation of several integrated technology environments and has developed methodologies for implementing strategic data architectures. She is currently working with a major Canadian bank to implement a strategic data architecture and global risk management facility. Clarity Group Inc. (CGI) is a Canadian-based Management Consulting and Systems Integration Company. CGI provides professional consulting services to a broad base of companies and specializes in the implementation of strategic data architectures and systems integration. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Information Resource Management Association of Canada is dedicated to keeping information management professionals abreast of recent industry trends and local accomplishments. It is a non-profit association with chapters in several Canadian cities, including Ottawa, Toronto and Victoria. IRMAC Ottawa holds monthly sessions to raise awareness of technical issues and explore the practical application of information resource management tools and techniques as well as an opportunity for professionals to meet and discuss information resource management issues. We ask speakers to focus mainly on generic issues, techniques and practices, as opposed to giving marketing presentations on specific products.
