Any HDR restrictions on Informix Innovator C?
Posted in 2017
A user hitting the connection limit of Informix Developer Edition asked whether Innovator-C allows HDR. Art Kagel answered that Innovator-C supports no secondaries at all (HDR, RSS, SDS) or ER nodes, pointing to the IIUG edition-comparison chart. Another poster noted that older Innovator-C releases (11.50/11.70, e.g. 11.70.FC4IE) did run HDR and that the old docs allowed a 2-node cluster, but Kagel clarified that from 12.10 Innovator-C no longer permits secondary servers, so doing so would be out of licence. The question was answered, though no alternative product for the connection limit was agreed.

Innovator-C cannot have any secondaries (HDR, RSS, SDS) or ER nodes. Version 11.70.FC4IE (free innovator version) work OK with HDR, and
limitations is 2GB RAM, 4 x CPU VP and unlimited storage.
Unfortunately, you can't download this version from IBM anymore :(
But you can try with version 11.70UC8IE wich is available to download,
but has limitation to 1 x CPU VP, 2GB RAM and unlimited storage.
I never try HDR with free 12.10 version ...maybe its works to ... :) ?
Here is a proof:
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC4IE -- On-Line (Prim) -- Up

IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC4IE -- Read-Only (Sec) -- Up

HDR may work with Innovator-C, but one would be out-of-license if one were
to set up secondaries. I suppose that if you only use the secondary for
failover, which is normally no charge anyway, you could make a case that it
is OK, but IBM might take umbrage.

For v12.10 Innovator-C no longer permits any secondary server nodes. Yes,
it did for 11.50 & 11.70, but no longer. At least not for now.
