Revenues were reduced by $6.2 million which will be evenly deferred over 1998 and 1999. As recommended by former auditors Ernst & Young, Informix agreed to count revenues only after its products were shipped to the customers of its industrial manufacturers. According to CFO, Jean-Yves Dexmier, this re-statement should send a message to Wall Street that Informix is a conservative company when it comes to counting its revenues.
