I am trying to help someone set up HDR.
Tapedev is set as follows on both primary and secondary
TAPEDEV /informixdb/tapedev
TAPEBLK 1024 # Tape block size (Kbytes)
TAPESIZE 90000000 # Maximum amount of data to put on tape (Kbytes)
On the primary the backup of the database went smoothly on the tape
on a single tape. The db is very small. Just 9GB something.
However ontape -p is failing. After it restores all the pages, it asks
for the following
Please mount tape2 in /informixdb/tapedev and press <RETURN> to continue
There is no tape2.
Why is this happening?
please note that I don't have access to the box at this time. I am
only reproducing message as told to me.
any pointer will be appreciated.
IDS 9.21.UC4 on Solaris 2.6
OK found out the problem. On the primary server the tapedev (/informixdb/tapedev) was a
symbolic link to a tape drive with no rewind. On the secondary it was a symbolic link
to a drive with rewind.
The primary tapedev was reset to a tape drive with rewind and backup taken again.
That backup restored fine on secondary with ontape -p.
