Are you using make instead of calling c4gl manually? That's fine but it can create just the symptom you describe. Read on. If you use make, did you remove the .ec and .c files that 4GL generates from you .4gl source? Unless you blank out and recreate the entire .SUFFIXES list the default list places a very high priority on .c files and will reuse these instead of recompiling the .4gl source. It's my guess that this is your problem. If you delete the .c and .ec and make again and the problem goes away. You can try putting implicit rules for making .o's from .4gl's directly and then put explicit dependencies for all of your source's generated .o files dependent on the .4gl files. Also make sure to add .4gl to the beginning of the suffixes list, you will need to blank the .SUFFIXES and recreate it listing .4gl first). This will eliminate the problem in the future. Then when you change or touch the .4gl or just remove the .o files everything will regenerate. Art S. Kagel
