HELP - Connection Refused by Data Source

I have just downloaded an evaluation copy of Openlinks Lite ODBC driver for informix (32 bit). Everything seemed to install OK (on windows 95) but when I try to connect I get the following message: "Connection Rejected by data source" I am currently using Intersolv's driver, it works OK so I/Net is installed correctly. The error message is a bit vague so I don't know where to look - I am using the same host, database, protocol (tcp/ip), service, username & password as with the Intersolv driver. If I change any of these parameters to invalid ones the exact same error is raised !! Half a day wasted so far so if anyone can help it would be appreciated (any suggestions regarding other ODBC drivers for Informix which work with VB RDO (including paramaters in stored procedures etc) would also be helpful, every driver I have tried so far seems, on the surface, to work fine but when I try to do any real development their shortcomings soon become evident !! ) .
