What I would do is to have another script (frex myOntape) that is
called from the crontab instead of ontape, like so:
18 7 * * 1-5 /usr/bin/myOntape
In /usr/bin/myOntape you will have:
export INFORMIXSERVER=...
export ONCONFIG=...
export INFORMIXDIR=/w/informix
export PATH=$INFORMIXDIR/bin:$PATH
ontape -s <<EOF 0
EOF
MSGPATH=`grep MSGPATH $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG | awk '{print $2}'`
cat "Backup run on `date`" >> $MSGPATH

Informix Online-7, with OS : UnixSCO version 5.2
2- Needs
I want to have the command to archive DATA automatiquly, so , I use the
command crontab of unix
the ksh script is
17 8 * * 1,2,3,4,5 nohup /v/informix/bin/ontape -s <oninput.txt>
onoutput.txt
The file oninput.txt contains 2 lines : 0 and line for enter
3- So, when i execute this commad with crontab, i have the mesage of cron
Status : R
initgls error -23101
