Copy the sqlhosts file from the server's directory, change the connection to the engine in the sqlhosts from shared memory (if you are using shared memory) to pipes or network using the appropriate service corresponding to a DBSERVERALIAS in the server that uses that connection type, add the multiplexed connection parameters, set INFORMIXDIR to the new directory and INFORMIXSERVER to the name, or appropriate alias, of the 7.10 server and Voila! HOWEVER, that said, I believe that multiplexed connections require engine support not available in 7.10 so the multiplexed connections not actually be multiplexed but separate connections anyway. I think that you will need to upgrade your server to get multiplexed connection support. Art S. Kagel
