Yup. This has been long time behavior. Discovered it myself while on a customer
site back in the 5.0 days. Seems my perusing of the logs (looking for a problem)
caused their system to enter a "hung" state. Oops! Never made that mistake again.
I always make a point of this when I teach the IDS Internals class (the only class
where onlog is taught). I suggest sending onlog output to a file and then using more
to view the file (assuming enough disk space is available to hold the output - if
not, you have to use head/tail to limit the file size and examine the results in
pieces).
