Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Jared Heath could not find a way to grant default database roles in InformixHQ. Doug Lawry and Carlton Doe confirmed HQ lacks it; Doug said HQ complements AGS rather than replacing it. Jared found the table-level privilege page unusable for hundreds of tables, criticised space/chunk and mirror management, and planned to upgrade his AGS license.

I am playing with the new(ish) InformixHQ to determine if it can take the place of the older AGS management software. I have found one mission critical process for us that I don't see anywhere that InformixHQ can do....grant default database roles.
I can create database privileges, and on that page, it shows default role, but I don't see anywhere to set this value in the website. Am I missing it or does this product not do this (yet?)

Hi Jared.
That does seem to be missing.
Our view is that HQ is very useful alongside AGS but does not replace it.

It definitely needs some maturity. Especially in the space/chunk presentation, which is really poor

Yes, default roles is not part of IHQ. I trust you found how to mange permissions on databases and tables while logged in as the IHQ administrator under the DBServer Administration : Privileges option.

Yes, I found that. Its frankly useless for me. We apply roles across hundreds of tables to grant read only or update perms. You are either a read-only user with the proper default role, or an update user with that role.
I can't (won't) manage it at the table level.
I'll have to upgrade our AGS license for now until HQ matures. Managing who is in a role is a minimum requirement for us. I'm also really disappointed in the space/chunk management interface, especially as it pertains to mirrors.
