Thats a good thing. Faster port means its in your hands now not later. 2) libc is supported by all Linux. Ie you can run it anywhere, you just can't compile with it on Red Hat. So those are the positives. But on the other hand, here is the negatives. 1) Glibc is the future. 2) Red Hat which supports Glibc holds something like 75% of Informix's targeted marketplace. What I think Informix is gambling on is that they will have a glibc port when Caldera et al support Glibc, and that in the meantime, developers may consider building on Caldera or SuSE and doing a runtime on RedHat.
