Informix Developer Position

Cayman Systems in Cambridge currently has an opening for a Database Applications Developer. The job description is as follows: The Database Applications Developer is responsible for the analysis, implementation and maintenance of Caymans' Informix based corporate database systems. Specific duties include modification of existing applications to meet changing business requirements and development of new applications from written specifications and verbal requests. Systems Analysis: Work with managers and users to determine requirements for database system enhancements, reporting, and new functionality. Will also develop specifications for implementation. Development: Using a combination of Informix-4gl, "C" and other development tools, the applications developer will implement new applications and enhance existing applications. Development will include data entry screens, reports, mailing sorts and data maintenance applications. These applications will include GUI interfaces for the Macintosh, Windows and X environments. Database Adminstration: Analysis, monitoring and tuning of the database environments to insure optimum performance. REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 5 years development experience using Informix-4gl, SQL and the "C" programming language. Experience with both the Informix Standard and On-Line engines and an in-depth knowledge of the UNIX operating system are also required. Ability to write UNIX shell scripts is important. Must have a demonstrated ability to translate imformaation needs into system requirements and to implement those requirements, frequently managing multiple projects with conflicting priorities. Experience in developing GUI user interfaces is a plus. This is a full-time position.
