Hmmm...I hadn't noticed that Marco's code had a technique for dealing with this. There's no obvious reason why it won't work, but it is of course unsupported and not a pure I4GL solution (any more than the dynamic report configuration software is a pure I4GL solution). Marco's observation that the output file stream in the report control structure does not always point where you think it should is correct; that's why I4GL no longer allows a RETURN statement in the body of a report. If you return from a page header, you could conceivably end up with a report that was neither open (so you could not do OUTPUT TO REPORT or FINISH REPORT) nor closed (so you could not do START REPORT).
